Yes, residents are permitted to bring with them photos of their loved ones.
You are allowed a 20-minute supervised personal phone time on Sundays.
No visitors permitted for duration of program.
The New Beginnings Ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. Families and friends are invited to show up any time after 9:00 a.m.
Residents can receive and send mail while they are within the treatment program. Relatives are responsible for their own stamps and envelopes. Please note, administration mail days are every Tuesday and Thursday.
All parcels received will be inspected.
All vitamins or over-the-counter medications need to be in an unopened bottle. If these medications are not on the referral package, they will be screened by our Nurse Practitioner before approval.
Yes, residents may bring craft supplies, fishing/ice-fishing rods and tackle, sketch pads, and musical instruments. Please note, clients may only use these items during times allotted for self-care.
Yes, but it will be locked for the duration of the treatment cycle and used on Sundays during the time allotted for phone calls.
Any provider, including a nurse practitioner or registered nurse, may assist you in completing the medical portion of the form.
If you encounter any issues completing the medical, please contact the intake worker for assistance.
Yes, we will work with you to ensure access to your methadone.
Bring appropriate seasonal clothing as much of the programming is done on the land during the cycle.
All service animals MUST be certified. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Smoking is permitted, and every Wednesday there is a local First Nation where you are able to purchase cigarettes only, at your own expense. Absolutely NO VAPING OR CHEWING TOBACCO of any sort.
Yes, please bring in your own unopened hygiene products.
No, outside food is not permitted.
The intake worker will provide you a list of items to bring.
This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
We provide supervised outings during your stay. No one is permitted to leave the property otherwise.
Before admission
Requirements for admission into our treatment program
The Benbowopka Treatment Centre requirements for admission into our treatment program consists of the following:
All clients must be stabilized from withdrawal symptoms prior to the intake admission date.
Individuals prescribed medication for anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or bi-polar disorder must be stabilized.
All referral package information must be completed.
All court dates must be dealt with prior to admission. We do not participate in mandated treatment as a condition for bail/parole or as the means for release from incarceration. All other legal conditions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Clients on probation must ensure that a copy of their probation order is included with the completed referral package.
If you don’t have a family doctor, you can get the medical portion of your referral done by a Nurse Practitioner or Registered Nurse.
